 CLUB COLORS & SHIELD

The club colors of the Arsenal Football Club are red, white, blue, and yellow

so why in the world is the supporters club of Louisville, KY, USA maroon and gold?

Well, the story is actually quite simple and intertwines the history of the Gunners  with our city and state.

 MAROON & GOLD

Much of Arsenal's history is connected to that of Nottingham Forest!  In fact, even Arsenal's first kit (known as Dial Square FC at that time, the club's first name even before becoming Woolwich Arsenal FC) was because of a gift from Nottingham.

Story is that Nottingham players Bill Parr and Charlie Bates joined the Gunner's early squad and brought  over their Nottingham kits.  They found that their new club had no kits and wrote back to Forest to ask a favor as there wasn't enough money with the new club to get new kits.  Forest obliged and handed off some old kits which were red but, since they were gently used, had turned into more of a maroon/burgundy color,  We honor the determination of the early Gunners to form the Arsenal Football Club by making this color a pivotal piece of our club.

Gold is our secondary color which, with the maroon, honors the famous Farewell to Highbury kits.  We pay homage to that famous ground where so much Arsenal history and climb to international stature was made.  Gold also celebrates The Invincibles who won the Premier League never having lost a match!  This feat had never been accomplished and was so amazing  the Premier League formed a special version of the cup including gold.  Our colors also honor this legacy of Gunner greatness that will never be forgotten and a feat that may never be accomplished again!

 CREST

Our club crest is built to show our loyalty and support to the

Arsenal Football Club!

We'll begin with the shape of the crest, the hexagonal diamond which was the shape of the same art deco style crest that Arsenal used for so many years under the growth of the club by Herbert Chapman and which was emblazoned above the entrance to Highbury for so many years.

The middle of the crest features the stylized classic Arsenal cannon raised 5 degrees, moving forward, ready to attack just like our team from the N5.  Carrying the cannon into battle is the carriage with its wheel displaying the triple fleur-de-lis of the classic City of Louisville seal and flag representing the Gooners of Louisville doing their part to support our Gunners.

Behind the cannon is the horseshoe cradling the cannon indicating the connection to the inspiration of our namesake, the Kentucky Derby, the most exciting 2 minutes in all of sports.  Just like the thundering thoroughbreds of the bluegrass, our Gunners charge down the pitch.  This shows the spirit of our Derby City Gooners and our efforts to expand the love of our club across the entire bluegrass state of Kentucky.

Finally, the checkerboard pattern once again, bolsters our namesake as it represents the silks of the greatest racehorse ever and Triple Crown winner, Secretariat who still holds the record for the fastest Kentucky Derby winner and one of only two horses to finish the Greatest 2 Minutes in Sports in under 2 minutes.  We honor the speed, strength and stamina of our boys from North London.  This checkerboard pattern is also an homage to the two teams that so many in our city and state support who have great sporting history themselves, the University of Louisville and University of Kentucky.  The checkerboard pattern is used in all things UK athletics from fields and floors to uniforms.  The once red and now maroon of the first Dial Square FC kits and the gold of the checkerboard represent cardinal colors of UofL. â€‹
